• on 05 February 2026, there was a brief power outage in Stuttgart, apparently due to a switching error, which mainly affected the internet, traffic lights, and trams.
• due to heavy snowfall, fallen trees caused damage to power lines at the end of January / beginning of February 2026, leaving over 200,000 households in Bavaria, Saxony, and other federal states without power.

At the beginning of 2026 alone, there were extreme weather conditions, power outages, and terrorist attacks in Germany.

In Berlin, many households had to be evacuated and without power, neither ovens nor heaters work. Many people were caught off guard by these outages and were left bewildered. Many subsequently also hungry and freezing.

It is therefore undeniable to at least prepare and provision for emergencies.

Based on the recommendations of the official stock calculator of the Federal Ministry for Agriculture, Nutrition, and Home Affairs and assuming a power outage like in Berlin (5 days without power, household with 3 people), the following quantities should be stocked:

• 5 kg of grain products, bread, potatoes
• 6 kg of vegetables and mushrooms
• 4 kg of fruit
• 30 litres of drinks
• 4 kg of milk and dairy products
• 2 kg of eggs, meat, sausage, and fish
• 500 grams of fats and oils

But preppers and people who prepare for possible crises are peculiar!

Prepper (from the English "to be prepared") means nothing more than thinking about possible crisis situations or emergencies and not being caught off guard when such a case occurs.

Of course, there are sensible precautionary measures and extreme outgrowths.
